NPRA and API have asked EPA for a meeting relating to fraudlent RINs. In their letter, the groups state:
‘The RFS2 Final rules and the Proposed Rule for the 2012 RFS standards state that EPA considers RIN purchase a ‘buyer beware’ activity,’ the letter states. ‘However, obligated parties that purchase invalid or fraudulent RINs have little means of discovering the problem, and are potentially faced with penalties for non-compliance with RFS requirements if the RINs are later deemed to be invalid.’
We'll keep you posted!
